In 2025, the CLI Global Society made real progress toward our mission: preventing amputations and saving lives by improving how Critical Limb Ischemia (CLI) is recognized and treated worldwide. CLI is one of the most serious and under-recognized vascular conditions — when blood flow to the legs and feet becomes severely blocked, patients face a high risk of losing a limb, or their life, if the disease isn’t caught and treated in time.
This year, the Society continued to grow its global community of physicians, surgeons, and allied health professionals dedicated to improving CLI care, expanding its reach across new regions and specialties. We advanced education through conferences, training sessions, and clinical resources designed to help physicians identify CLI earlier and choose the most effective treatment path for their patients.
We also strengthened our commitment to research, supporting studies and data initiatives that build the evidence base for better, more consistent CLI care around the world. Alongside this, we expanded outreach and awareness efforts aimed at helping patients and the public recognize the warning signs of CLI — because early recognition is often the difference between saving a limb and losing one.
Partnerships with other medical societies, health systems, and advocacy groups helped extend our impact beyond our own membership, reinforcing that preventing amputation is a shared responsibility across the healthcare community.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of our members, volunteers, and partners. As we look ahead, the CLI Global Society remains focused on our founding purpose: making sure every patient with Critical Limb Ischemia has the best possible chance to keep their limb — and their life.
The Multidisciplinary CLI Network (MCLIN) continues to thrive through monthly meetings that provide CLI operators a trusted forum to discuss complex cases with expert panelists and peers. In 2025, MCLIN also launched its first live event, MCLIN Live, at AMP, featuring case presentations from Drs. Eric Dippel, Richard Neville, Fadi Saab, and Michael Siah.
The Journal of Critical Limb Ischemia (JCLI) has been and remains the only peer-reviewed journal dedicated to chronic limb threatening ischemia (CLTI) and amputation prevention, publishing global research, clinical care, and educational content. JCLI is led by Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Jos C. van den Berg. The Editorial Board consists of 45 leaders in the CLTI space from 15 countries. JCLI was indexed by SCOPUS in 2023. Under the new leadership the review process of the JCLI has been updated to support pursuit of indexing with PubMed, Clarivate/Web of Science and Embase.
The Journal wants to recognize Dr. Arnaud Kerzmann, MD, an Endovascular and Vascular Surgeon from the University Hospital of Liege in Belgium, as ‘2025 Reviewer of the Year’ for contributing significant expertise and service to JCLI. Dr. Kerzmann is an active member of the CLI Global Society Publications Committee.
In 2025, the CLI Global Society partnered with leading educational conferences to expand member benefits, offering exclusive discounts for ISET, AMP and AMP Europe, DLS, SAWC, and international programs including Paris Vascular Insights Course, Imendoforum, and CLI Kongress.
